How do you browse a Hull ID Range?

The Hull Identification Number (HIN) can be a twelve- or fourteen-character serial number that uniquely identifies a boat. The HIN is analogous to some VIN on an auto.

The first 3 digits are classified as the Company’s Identification Code (ex. Boat manufacturer like Sea Ray, Meridian, and so forth.). The 4 digits after that are classified as the maker’s serial variety for that boat. The third and 4th digits with the close are the day of manufacture. The letter over the day on the manufacture corresponds on the month in the year, i.e. A = January, B = February, C = March and so on. The final two digits on the HIN variety symbolize the model year.

All boats created or imported on or just after November one, 1972, need to bear a HIN, and this HIN needs to be determined for the duration of boat registration. Vessels produced or imported prior to 1972 are EXEMPT because they normally do not need a HIN.

The HIN is discovered with a steel or plastic plate, typically to the transom in the boat, usually on the appropriate starboard (appropriate) facet on the transom inside two inches of the highest of transom, gunwale, or hull/deck joint, whichever is lowest.

On vessels devoid of transoms, or impractical to utilize transoms, the HIN is usually affixed on the starboard (right) outboard aspect of hull, aft, in just a single foot of your stern and inside of two inches of the highest of the hull side, gunwale or hull/deck joint, whichever is cheapest.
